Saturday of the Twenty-Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Blessed Virgin Mary

First Saturday of the Month

Readings of the Day

RB: Ch 7:44-48

Mass: Jb 42:1-3, 5-6, 12-17; Resp Ps 119; Lk 10:17-24

Lord, let your face shine on me.

HOLY MARY,
PRAY FOR US.

Welcome to the first Saturday of the month and a day dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Mother of Our Lord. We need Mary's intercession. On a day like this we turn to two beautiful prayers from Mass, first the Collect, then the Prayer over the Offerings. In the Collect, we ask the Lord that "we may rejoice in unfailing health of mind and body, and, through the glorious intercession of Blessed Mary ever-Virgin, may we be set free from present sorrow and come to enjoy eternal happiness." In the Prayer Over the Offerings, we pray to the Lord, and ask "that, through the intercession of Blessed Mary, the Mother of your Son, no petition may go unanswered, no request made in vain."

MARY, HEALTH OF THE SICK,
PRAY FOR US.

In her is found nothing austere, nothing to terrify: Everything about her is full of sweetness ... you find everything that belongs to her full of goodness and grace, overflowing with mercy and meekness.

(Bernard of Clairvaux)
