Thursday of the Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:1-10 Qualities of the Abbot
Mass: 1 Cor 8:1b-7, 11-13; Resp Ps 139; Lk 6:27-38

Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

HEART OF JESUS, KING AND CENTER OF ALL HEARTS,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

In today's Gospel, Jesus speaks to those "who hear" (Lk 6:27). And looking ahead to the commands that follow, it may be wise to "listen" in the way of St Benedict, that is, listen with the ear of our hearts (RB Prol 1). It takes open and loving ears and hearts to hear Jesus, listen to Him, and carry out His teaching, with love: Love your enemies; bless those who curse you; pray for those who mistreat you; to the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well; give to everyone who asks of you; be merciful; stop judging; forgive others (Lk 6:27-38). Living and true God, please grant us the grace.

DO TO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD
 HAVE THEM DO TO YOU.
(Lk 6:31)

Today's photo: Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in these unusual and for many, frightening conditions. So much to pray for. Thank you, CB.
