Saint Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church (1225-1274)

Monday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:19-23
Mass: Heb 9:15, 24-28; Resp Ps 98; Mk 3:22-30

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.

As we remember and celebrate the Angelic Doctor, Saint Thomas Aquinas, a random opening of the Summa Theologica to q. 83, 'On Prayer', revealed this:

When we pray we ought to ask for what we ought to desire. Now we ought to desire good things not only for ourselves, but also for others; for this is essential to the love which we owe to our neighbor.
(Summa Theologica, q. 83, art. 7)

Through Christ the teacher, O Lord,
instruct those you feed with Christ, the living Bread,
that on the feast day of blessed Thomas Aquinas
they may learn your truth
and express it in words of charity.
Through Christ our Lord.
(Prayer after Communion, Mass)

May Saint Thomas Aquinas intercede for all students, professors, and staff at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Rome, and for all Dominicans.

Sing praise to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song.
With trumpets and sound of the horn
sing joyfully to the King, the Lord.
(Resp Ps 98)

SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS, PRAY FOR US.
