Wednesday of the First Week of Advent

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 53:16-24
Mass: Is 25:6-10a; Resp Ps 23; Mt 15:29-37

The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain.

Today, Jesus walks by the water, goes up the mountain, and sits down. How long do you suppose he had to wait before the great crowds came to him? We wait for HIM who is already waiting for us. An antiphon we sing before one of the psalms at the Divine Office comes to mind: My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready.

MARANA THA! COME, LORD JESUS!

Behold, the Lord comes to save his people; blessed are those prepared to meet him.
(Gospel Acclamation, Mass)

The beginning of faith is feeling the need for salvation: this is the way that prepares us to meet Jesus.
(Pope Francis, Twitter, December 5, 2018)

BEHOLD OUR GOD, TO WHOM WE LOOKED TO SAVE US! THIS IS THE LORD FOR WHOM WE LOOKED; LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD THAT HE HAS SAVED US!
(Is 25:9)
