Seventh Day within the Octave of the Nativity of the Lord

Pope Saint Sylvester I (ca. 335)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 73 This Rule only a Beginning of Perfection
Mass: 1 Jn 2:18-21; Resp Ps 96; Jn 1:1-18

The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us. To those who accepted him he gave power to become the children of God.

Dear friends, we continue to pray for our families, friends, loved ones, those who have asked for our prayers and those who have not, those who do not have anyone to pray for them; the sick, dying, grieving, anxious, lonely, afraid, those under threat of violence, and for our enemies. Living and true God, as we prepare to welcome the new year, 2019, grant us strength and courage to grow in our love for you and for one another. Help us to be merciful and forgiving.

May your people, O Lord,
whom you guide and sustain in many ways,
experience, both now and in the future,
the remedies which you bestow,
that, with the needed solace of things that pass away,
they may strive with ever deepened trust
for things eternal.
Through Christ our Lord.
(Prayer after Communion, Mass)

Pope Saint Sylvester I, pray for us.
