RB: Ch 12 The Celebration of Solemn Lauds
Mass: Ga 4:22-24, 26-27, 31:5:1; Resp Ps 113; Lk 11:29-32
From the rising of the sun to its setting is the name of the Lord to be praised
Contemplative prayer in my opinion is nothing else than a close sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with him who we know loves us.
(St Teresa of Jesus, The Book of Her Life, 8,5)
St Teresa of Jesus is a true teacher of
Christian life for the faithful of every time. In our society, which all too
often lacks spiritual values, St Teresa teaches us to be unflagging witnesses
of God, of his presence and of his action. She teaches us truly to feel this
thirst for God that exists in the depths of our hearts, this desire to see God,
to seek God, to be in conversation with him and to be his friends.
(Pope Benedict XVI, General Audience, February 2, 2011)
O God, who through your Spirit
raised up Saint Teresa of Jesus
to show the Church the way to perfection,
grant that we may always be nourished
by the food of her heavenly teaching
and fired with longing for true holiness.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity
of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
(Collect, Mass)
ST TERESA OF JESUS,
PRAY FOR US.
