HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Autumn is a second Spring

Every leaf is a flower

(Albert Camus)

A litany of praise and Thanksgiving, God

For your love and your goodness,

we praise you.

For that portion of Your Grace each day,

we thank you.

For prayers uttered from the depths of our soul,

we praise you.

For the beauty of this valley,

we thank you.

For the joy of the animals wild and tame,

we praise you.

For the fruits of the earth,

we thank you.

For our oneness with all Humanity,

we praise you.

For the blessing of your friends and all you have given us,

we thank you.

For the celebration of Thanksgiving Day,

we acknowledge you as the Giver of our life

and we honor you, our God. Amen.

To be grateful is to recognize the Love of God in everything He has given us-and He has given us everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of His love, every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings with it immense graces from Him. Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by heresy but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.
(Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude)

Be not lax

in celebrating.
Be not lazy
in the festive service of God.

Be ablaze with enthusiasm.

Let us be a live,
burning offering
before the altar of God.
(Hildegard of Bingen)
