Feast of Saint Andrew, one of the Twelve, Patron Saint of Scotland, Romania, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, and Poland; and the Patron Saint of Fishermen!

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 49 The Observance of Lent
Mass: Rm 10:9-18; Resp Ps 19; Mt 4:18-22

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

In today's Gospel, Jesus calls four men to be his disciples. All respond with immediacy; with purpose. Simon, called Peter, and his brother Andrew 'at once left their nets and followed Him.' James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, 'immediately left their boat and their father and followed' the Lord. Jesus is calling each and everyone of us at this very moment: 'Come after me'. May our response be so immediate; so purposeful.

God commanded us to follow Christ, not because God has any need of our service, but because God wants to give us salvation … God gives to those who serve Him life, immortality and eternal glory.
(St Ireneaus)

ST ANDREW, PRAY FOR US.

NB. Today's photo comes from a friend in Switzerland, taken in the evening just days ago after the first snowfall. It is of three mountains in the Alps: Widderfeld, Nünalphorn, and Huetstock, the so-called 'Dreigestirn'.
