Wednesday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Bonaventure, bishop, doctor (1218-1274)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 36 The Sick
Mass: Is 10:5-7, 13b-16; Resp Ps 94; Mt 11:25-27

The glorious freedom of the children of God.

It is the youthful energy, sense of awe and wonder, openness, creativity, and spontaneity radiating from the children in today's photo that is sometimes lost on the "wise and learned" (Mt 11:25), aka, grown-ups. It is the gracious will of our Father, Lord of heaven and earth to reveal the wonders and mysteries of the kingdom of God to children such as these, that is, the childlike. I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and learned you have revealed them to the childlike (Mt 11:25). Living and true God, grant us the grace to regain or renew the qualities of these children so as to hear and act upon your Word. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amid loud cries of joy and thanksgiving, we may sing to you a canticle of praise and learn by experience that with you is the fountain of life, and in your light we see light.
(Saint Bonaventure)

SAINT BONAVENTURE,
