Apollos was an authority on the Scriptures.
Meet Apollos, native of Alexandria, an eloquent speaker—that is to say literate and articulate. With zeal, he spoke and taught accurately about Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John, that of repentance. Priscilla and Aquila discreetly pulled Apollos aside and explained to him the Way of God more fully and accurately. What impresses me about Apollos is his humility. Apollos could have thought himself above such teaching. Yet his mind and heart were open to receiving instruction and growing in faith and understanding. We are never too learned, experienced, or advanced on the spiritual journey to probe deeper and deeper into the mystery. May we be inspired and encouraged by the example of Apollos.
After his arrival in Achaia,
Apollos gave great assistance to those who had come to believe through grace.
He vigorously refuted the Jews in public,
establishing from the Scriptures that the Christ is Jesus.
