Wednesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 3:1-6 Calling the Community for Counsel
Mass; Heb 2:14-18; Resp Ps 105; Mk 1:29-39

He left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.

Jesus on the move: He approached Simon's mother-in-law, grasped her hand, and helped her up; He cured many who were sick with various diseases; He drove out many demons; He prayed; He preached.

FOR THIS PURPOSE I HAVE COME.

The physician comes to the sick, the redeemer to the captives, the way to the wanderers, the life to the dead; he comes who will cast all ours sins into the bottom of the sea, who will heal all our diseases, and will bear us back upon his own shoulders to the place of honor that was originally ours.
(Bernard of Clairvaux)

The Spirit of God speaks freely to each person through feelings and thoughts. The Spirit cannot be confined with simple reasoning, but must be welcomed with the heart!
