Wednesday after Epiphany

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 1:6-13
Mass: 1 Jn 4:11-18; Resp Ps 72; Mk 6:45-52

A people who walked in darkness has seen a great light; for those dwelling in a land of deep  gloom, a light has shone.

Walking on water, Jesus tells the disciples, 'Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!' Remember, 'God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.' Therefore, there is no reason to be afraid, for 'there is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.' Still, if we do find ourselves afraid, Jesus will get into our boat and the winds will die down. In fact, Jesus is already in our boat. Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!

Do not be afraid to weep when you encounter difficult situations: tears are drops that irrigate life. Tears of compassion purify hearts and feelings.
(Pope Francis, Twitter, January 9, 2019)

Increase our faith, leading us from faith to faith, from brightness to brightness, by your Spirit, so that from day to day we may enter more deeply into the treasures of light, so that faith may become more all embracing. Thus will knowledge be more full, charity more fervent and expansive, until through faith, we are led to the vision of your face, as if led by a leading star to our Leader in Bethlehem.
(Guerric Igny)

WE MUST LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Observe that in the first manifestation Christ show Himself as a little Child in the arms of His Virgin Mother, in order to teach us that simplicity and modesty must be sought before everything else.
(St Bernard of Clairvaux)
