Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Saints Maur and Placid, disciples of St Benedict

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:33-40
Mass: Heb 2:5-12; Resp Ps 8; Mk 1:21-28

Receive the word of God, not as the word of men, but as it truly is, the word of God.

The Word teaches with authority. Living and true God, help us to listen with the ear of our hearts.

WITH YOU, O LORD, IS THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE, AND IN YOUR LIGHT WE SEE LIGHT.
(Communion Antiphon, Mass)

Let your voice sound in my ears, good Jesus, that my heart may learn how to love you, my mind how to love you, the inmost being of my soul how to love you.
(Aelred of Rievaulx)

A pure heart accepts wisdom, modesty calms the conscience, and unfeigned faith adorns justice.
(Aelred of Rievaulx)

Don't let the sufferings you see frighten you. Place them before the Crucifix and the Eucharist from which we draw patient and compassionate love.
(Pope Francis, Twitter, January 15, 2019)

SAINTS MAUR AND PLACID,
PRAY FOR US.

NB. Today's photo is of a holy card from Montecassino Abbey, established by St Benedict in 6th century Italy.
