Tuesday after Epiphany

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 1:1-5 The Kinds of Monks
Mass: 1 Jn 4:7-10; Resp Ps 72; Mk 6:34-44

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God.

'When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them.' This first line from today's Gospel doesn't need much commentary. Jesus invites us to reach out to others with authentic and heartfelt compassion and love. We are all in need of compassion and love as we face our daily struggles, however big or small. Reach out to someone today.

Love does not tolerate indifference; love is compassionate. Love means putting your heart on the line for others.

May the Virgin Mary, who welcomed the Wise Men in Bethlehem, help us to lift our gaze from ourselves, to allow ourselves to be guided by the star of the Gospel in order to encounter Jesus, and to be able to humble ourselves to adore him. In this way we will be able to bring to others a ray of his light, and to share with them the joy of the journey.
(Pope Francis)
