Saint Josaphat (1580-1623)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 35:1-11
Mass: Tt 1:1-9; Resp Ps 24; Lk 17:1-6

Whoever loses his life for my sake, will find it in eternity, says the Lord.

Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our savior (Tt 1:4). What a beautiful way to begin a letter! St Paul continues in his epistle to Titus listing the qualities of a bishop. A bishop must be blameless, not arrogant, not irritable, not a drunkard, not aggressive, and not greedy for sordid gain. Rather, a bishop should be hospitable, a lover of goodness, temperate, just, holy, and self-controlled, holding fast to the true message as taught. Let us pray for all bishops. May they embrace and give witness to these qualities of good Christian living so that they 'shine like lights in the world, as they hold on to the word of life'. We pray also for ourselves, that we then follow their example.

Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.
(Resp Ps 24)

SAINT JOSAPHAT, PRAY FOR US.
