Saint Paul of the Cross (1694-1775); Blessed Virgin Mary

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 16 The Hours of the Work of God During the Day
Mass: Ep 1:15-23; Resp Ps 8; Lk 12:8-12

Everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.

For all those recommended to our prayers:

I do not cease giving thanks for you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him. May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones, and what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe.
(Ep 1:16-19)

SAINT PAUL OF THE CROSS,
PRAY FOR US.

The Virgin, bearing God in her womb,
hastened to Elizabeth.
And the unborn child of Elizabeth
knew at once her embrace, and rejoiced,
and with leaps like songs cried to the Theotokos:
Hail, vine-twig of unfading bud;
Hail, treasure of undying fruit;
Hail, you who till the tiller who loves humankind;
Hail, you who cultivate the cultivator of our life;
Hail, earth that flourishes with a fertility of compassion;
Hail, table that bears a wealth of mercy;
Hail, since you who make the meadow of delights blossom again;
Hail, since you make ready a haven for the souls;
Hail, acceptable incense of intercession;
Hail, atonement for the whole world;
Hail, good will of God towards mortals;
Hail, freedom of approach for mortals before God;
Hail, bride unwedded.
(The Akathistos Hymn, 5:1-18)

MARY, SEAT OF WISDOM,
PRAY FOR US.
