Friday of the Twenty-Seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 9 The Number of Psalms at the Night Office
Mass: Ga 3:7-14; Resp Ps 111; Lk 11:15-26

Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.

As prescribed by St Benedict in today's passage from the Holy Rule, we began Vigils by proclaiming three times verse 17 from Psalm 51. It's not a bad idea to have our first words of the day ones which call upon the name of the Lord. This can also be one way to ask the 'finger of God' to drive out all demons and cast out the prince of this world, for Jesus tells us in today's Gospel: 'if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you' (Lk 11:20). Living and true God, help us to proclaim your praise!

Thus says the Lord: Let whoever is thirsty come to me and drink. Streams of living water will flow from within the one who believes in me.
(Communion Antiphon, Mass)
