Blessed Marie Rose Durocher (1811-1849); Saint Bruno (1033-1101); Blessed Virgin Mary; First Saturday of the Month

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:55
Mass: Jb 42:1-3, 5-6, 12-17; Resp Ps 119; Lk 10:17-24

Saint Bruno, pray for us.

My favorite statue in Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome is that of Saint Bruno. I marvel at how enormous it is while being drawn into the peace and serenity of Bruno's face. You can check it out on your next visit to the eternal city. Today's photo though comes from my picture postcard selection, a statue of St Bruno at the Carthusian monastery of Miraflores, Burgos, Spain. On this First Saturday, let us ask St Bruno, Blessed Marie Rose Durocher, and the Holy Mother of God to intercede for us. That we may regain, if we have lost it, the sense of awe, wonder, and simplicity of the childlike. Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit when He says: 'I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will' (Lk 10:21).

LORD, LET YOUR FACE SHINE ON ME.
THE REVELATION OF YOUR WORDS SHEDS LIGHT,
GIVING UNDERSTANDING TO THE SIMPLE.
(Resp Ps 119)
