Thursday of the Twenty-First Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 72 The Good Zeal of Monks
Mass: 1 Co 1:1-9; Resp Ps 145; Mt 24:42-51

I will praise your name for ever, Lord. (Resp Ps 45)

At Redwoods we are surrounded by the beauty of God's creation including but not limited to colorful flowers, majestic trees, beasts wild and tame, and a lush garden bursting with nutritious produce. For your reflection, I offer a few photos interspersed with texts from today's celebration of the Eucharist-all replete with beauty. To put a nice bow on the package, I conclude with two of the most beautiful verses in all of the Holy Rule of St Benedict. Dear friends, beauty abounds!

The earth is replete with the fruits of your work, O Lord; you bring forth bread from the earth and wine to cheer the heart.
(Communion Antiphon)

Every day will I bless you, and I will praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord and highly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable.
(Resp Ps)

Generation after generation praises your works and proclaims your might.
They speak of the splendor of your glorious majesty and tell of your wondrous works.
(Resp Ps)

Stay awake! For you do not know when the Son of Man will come.
Alleluia.
(Gospel Acclamation)

Complete within us, O Lord, we pray,
the healing work of your mercy
and graciously perfect and sustain us,
so that in all things we may please you.
Through Christ our Lord.
(Prayer after Communion)

LET THEM PREFER NOTHING WHATEVER TO CHRIST,
AND MAY HE BRING US ALL TOGETHER TO EVERLASTING LIFE.
(RB 72:11-12)
