God of Mercy

Monday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time
Saint Peter Chrysologus, Bishop of Ravenna, Doctor of the Church (d. ca.450)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 48:22-25
Mass: Jr 13:1-11; Resp Ps (Dt 32); Mt 13:31-35

You have forgotten God who gave you birth.
(Dt 18a)

Through Aelred of Rievaulx, God asks us questions that are fitting in response to the text from the Book of Deuteronomy used as today's Responsorial Psalm.

Shall I, who pursue you when you flee from me, reject you when you come to me? Shall I, who embrace and draw you to myself when you turn your face from me, push you away when you hide under the wings of my mercy?
(Aelred of Rievaulx)

SAINT PETER CHRYSOLOGUS, PRAY FOR US.
