Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent

Readings of the day: RB 29 The Readmission of Any Who Leave the Monastery
Mass: Da 3:25, 34-43; Resp Ps 25; Mt 18:21-35

If my sister or brother sins against me, how often must I forgive her?
As many as seven times?
‘I SAY TO YOU, NOT SEVEN TIMES BUT SEVENTY-SEVEN TIMES.’

Jesus isn’t exaggerating here. Jesus has forgiven each one of us many more times than seventy-seven. Something to think about.

A humble and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise
(Ps 51:17)

When you fast, see the fasting of others. If you want God to know you are hungry, know that another is hungry. If you hope for mercy, show mercy. If you look for kindness, show kindness. If you want to receive, give. If you ask for yourself what you deny others, your asking is a mockery.
(St Peter Chrysologus)
