Saul was jealous of David.

We’ve been gathering for these blog posts since September 2017. Today begins our second journey through St Benedict’s chapter, ‘The Tools for Good Works’. As we continue to reflect upon the First Book of Samuel, we might recognize some of ourselves in the behavior of our friends, David and Saul. If that is the case, St Benedict’s ‘Tools’ may help guide us along our spiritual journey and help us grow closer to God and to our brothers and sisters: Love the Lord God with your whole heart, your whole soul and all your strength, and love your neighbor as yourself; You are not to kill; You must honor everyone, and never do to another what you do not want done to yourself; harbor neither hatred nor jealousy of anyone, and do nothing out of envy.

As the Lord lives, David shall not be killed.
David served Saul as before.
